Laboratory Test Directory
The Marshall Browning Hospital Laboratory provides testing services to meet all needs. The friendly laboratory personnel, who are all CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) certified, welcome any patient with a physician's order for lab testing. In addition, corporate accounts may be established for those companies needing pre-employment or "on the job" drug screening.
CAP Accredited
This lab, which is accredited by CAP (College of American Pathologists) and Joint Commission, performs the majority of all routine tests on site. Any specialty or highly specialized testing is submitted to a licensed reference lab that provides daily courier services for specimen pick-up and a computerized inquiry system for quick result access. The medical director is a Board Certified Pathologist who provides pathology services through local coverage. The outpatient laboratory is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. While these hours are designed to facilitate routine testing, the main lab is staffed 24 hours a day in order to cover any other emergency patient testing. Services for inpatients, outpatients and pre-operative evaluations include such testing as CBC (Complete Blood Count) for routine as well as oncological patients undergoing chemo or radiation therapy; chemistry profiles for routine screening, cardiac and liver enzymes; and therapeutic drug testing. Additional services include coagulation testing with INR values for coumadin therapy.
