LPN for Med/Surg
This is a full-time position. The LPN Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Assists in maintaining the flow of patient care by providing timely medication administration and discharge education and documentation during peak activity times on the unit. Communicates with physicians/Nurse Manager/co-workers, as appropriate regarding patient medications, treatments, education topics, treatment plan, changes in condition, and general care to assure that patients are receiving appropriate and timely care. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment within the LPN scope of practice and communicate assessment findings and patient needs beyond the LPN scope of practice to the appropriate RN or physician. Complies with patient privacy regulations and takes adequate precautions in all communication. Can collaborate and enhance the patient care experience by functioning as part of the care team. Additionally, can perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current registration with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
B. Training and Experience: Basic Life Support (BLS), Continuing Education as required by Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, Facility specific competencies.
C. Job Knowledge: Sound knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, basic knowledge of disciplines related to nursing, such as biology, anatomy and physiology, psychology and sociology, and basic pharmacology, and their applications. Must have the basic knowledge to assess and care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Familiarity with the organization and function of all departments; familiarity with standards, policies, and procedures of the Nursing Department. Knowledge of literature and new developments in the nursing field.
